HEC to provide grants for IIUI, QAU boundary walls

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has decided to provide grants for boundary walls of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) and Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU), Islamabad, sources told Daily Times on Friday. They said the decision had been taken after bomb blasts of October 20, 2009 at IIUI and threats to QAU recently. The IIUI has an area of 704 acres, while QAU 1,500 acres but have no boundary walls, which has exposed students of both the institutions to the risk of terrorist attacks. The students and faculty of both the institutions have repeatedly requested the government for grants to build boundary walls.
